UPV Cebu College: Towards a World Class University |

Since it was established on May 3, 1918, the University of the Philippines Visayas Cebu College has been laying down the foundation of what it envisions itself to be: a world-class university that will be of service to every Filipino.
Thus, in line with the celebration of the University’s Centennial, the College has recommitted itself to its vision and has put in place plans that would bring it closer to the realization of this vision and allow itself to better fulfill its mission to provide every Filipino, especially those in Central Visayas, with excellent education.
These plans include, among others, the strengthening of the College’s academic offerings, the modernization of its facilities and equipment, and the enhancement of its faculty’s academic accomplishments.
With the support of the University administration, led by UP President Emerlinda R. Roman, some of these plans are already in motion. Work is currently underway to rehabilitate the existing structures of the College. Efforts are also being made to modernize the library, academic laboratories, and classrooms.
But the College is aware that its infrastructure is only as good as the academic programs it offer. Thus, together with the entire faculty, it has recently mapped out strategies that would strengthen existing academic programs and allow the offering of new ones.
As it has taken the College ninety years to get to where it is, it will take some more years, or even decades, for it to be closer to its goal to be a world-class university.
But time alone cannot achieve this. For the College to realize its vision and fully fulfill its mission, it needs your help.
Let us all make UPVCC the College that we deserve.

| Why Raise Funds for UPV Cebu College? |
|
Since it was founded, UPV Cebu College has served Cebu, the greater Visayas region, and the country with excellent, affordable, and accessible education.
It has and continues to produce outstanding graduates who have contributed much to the development o our communities. Its faculty continues to produce ground-breaking research, aimed at improving the quality of our lives, despite the fact that hard times have caught up with the College.
UP’s diminishing budget and the increasing cost required to deliver excellent education have adversely affected its capability to continue to serve at the level it used to. And the scarcity of funds has resulted in almost obsolete equipment, overused facilities, and an exodus of many exemplary faculty members.
UPVCC has all the reasons to be less optimistic about its future. But instead of giving in, the College has recommitted itself to its vision to be a world-class university for its constituents and its mission to serve the nation through academic excellence, unparalleled leadership, and selfless service.
This renewed passion is boosted by the unwavering support of the UP administration led by UP Pres. Emerlinda R. Roman and the College’s realization that its strategic geographical location puts itself in a unique position to serve the country more than the other UP components in the region.
But the College knows that the only way to make this vision into a reality is to strengthen its academic programs, enhance the qualifications of its faculty, and improve its equipment and facilities.
This is a difficult task, since it entails considerable effort and financial cost. It is only made easier by the unity and support of UP’s constituents. But despite its best efforts to maximize its resources, the College needs help from those who share its vision - those who can see the benefits of what a world-class university in Cebu can do for the region and the nation.

| Where will the funds go? |
|
The funds that will be raised for the College will be spent on six major items. These are:
- Faculty Development This will come in the form of Professorial Chairs, Faculty and Research Grants, and other capacity building and enhancement programs.
- Student Scholarships and Financial Assistance
- Modernization of Library, Academic Facilities/Classrooms, and Teaching Equipment
- Construction, Repair, and Maintenance of Academic Buildings, Dormitories, and Amenities. (Please see UPVCC Development Projects)
- Endowment Funds for Artists and Athletes
- Unrestricted Funds for R&D Projects, Publications, Cultural Activities, Exhibits, Lectures, and Trainings

| How will UPVCC raise funds? |
Administrators of the College and the University have embarked in a global fund raising campaign designed to raise the funds needed to project the University and College into the next century. This campaign is aimed at alumni, benefactors, partners and friends of the College and University.
