VISION/MISSION
The Management Division of UP Visayas Cebu College aims to be the leading regional institutional resource for the training and development of managers and leaders who are strongly grounded in our national culture and heritage and who can be effective in a wide range of situations.
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRPERSON
Welcome to UPVCC Management Division’s Website.
The Management Division (MD) is one of six academic divisions of UPVCC. Its office and academic support facilities are situated at the western side of the UPVCC Lahug Campus where the Administrative Building is located.
In consonance with UPVCC’s vision, the MD intends to be the leading regional institutional resource for the training and development of managers who are strongly grounded in our national culture and heritage, and who can be effective in a wide range of situations.
To achieve this vision, it currently offers two programs—the Bachelor of Science in Management and the Master of Business Administration. The undergraduate program is offered on a semestral basis while the graduate program is offered on a trimestral basis. The existing BSM program is a 4-year generalist program designed to produce management graduates who have the flexibility to perform in the corporate environment as well as engage in entrepreneurial endeavors. The MBA Program, recently launched in UPVCC in 2009, is a 3-year program designed to provide graduate students with a “balance between technical training and practical problem-solving, that is founded on current management theories and approaches”(UPD CBA).
Moreover, the MD provides regularly course offerings that service the electives of B.A. Psychology students from UPVCC’s Social Sciences Division.
To support these program offerings, the MD has a human resource complement of ten full-time faculty members—three of which have Doctoral degrees, one is pursuing a doctoral degree while the rest have Master’s Degrees. Currently, it taps the services of fly-in professors from UP Diliman’s College of Business Administration to facilitate the implementation of the MBA Program.

ADMINISTRATION
History
The Bachelor of Science in Management (BSM) program has long since evolved from the original program Bachelor of Science in Business Management, one of the pioneering programs offered in the then UP College Cebu in 1973. Many of its graduates currently occupy senior positions in public/private organizations either as professional managers or as entrepreneurs.
When UP Cebu was re-opened in 1963, it hosted the Master of Business Administration Program of UP Diliman until 1978. In the mid 70s, it started offering the Bachelor of Science in Business Management, the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and the Master of Public Administration. With the phasing out of the MBA/MPA Program in AY 1978-1979, UP Cebu decided to offer the Master of Management Program with specializations in Business Management, Public Management, Educational Management and Integrated Health Services Management.
In the early 1990s, UPV Cebu College reorganized into disciplinal groups. This resulted in the creation of the Management Division which served as home to the Bachelor of Business Management, the Master of Management (MM) and the Diploma of Urban and Regional Planning Programs.
In June 2009, the Master of Business Administration program was launched. As part of the UPVCC’s move to rationalize its program offerings, the existing MM program will be phased out while new intake for the Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning will be suspended.
Today, MD offers two programs—the Bachelor of Science in Management and the Master of Business Administration.
Key Functions
